Chip PC Technologies partners with SecMaker for Smart Card Security - integrates SecMaker software plug-in
Net iD Connector into its products portfolio
Sep 23, 2012, Haifa, Israel
Chip PC Technologies, the leading supplier of thin client software and devices, today announced integration with the software plug-in,
Net iD Connector, developed by SecMaker AB, which develops software and solutions for smart card-based IT security.
Chip PC and SecMaker have partnered to extend the use of smart cards and user authentication to organizations, such as healthcare providers, that deploy smart card solutions. The software product Net iD is a ground-breaking product designed for organizations that want to establish simple and secure log-in routines for their networks.
“This partnership means there is now a secure, flexible and cost effective way for companies to control user security, while also allowing the profiles and applications to follow users from device to device” explains Ronnie Johansson from SecMaker.
“We are confident this partnership will be of great benefit to our existing enterprise customers, enabling them to further expand the use of smart cards and thin client devices to advance data security” says Tim van Wasen, VP EMEA at Chip PC Technologies.
Due to the architectural design of the Citrix platform, customers have historically been unable to reconnect to a disconnected session using smartcard roaming on thin clients *. SecMaker created a solution in the form of software plug-in for Chip PC thin clients,
Net iD Connector.
This software is now available on Chip PC LXD8541 thin clients running ThinX OS V.2.0.1, and has been approved and recommended by Citrix Systems.
Chip PC will integrate and distribute the software plug-in, Net iD Connector, helping Chip PC customers enhance their security with smart cards.

* Smartcard roaming, or hot-seating, is a much sought after function now added to the Citrix platform with SecMaker. The user removes the card from the client’s card reader, disconnection occurs and the session can then re-start from any terminal of the user’s choice just by entering a unique PIN.
