Terminal Services Licensing

Last modified: Thursday, Mar 8, 2007 Article ID: 114

SYMPTOM

When using the temporary terminal services or when there are problems with the licensing, the devices will not connect to the server.

SOLUTION

More information:
Devices suffering from TSCAL issues will NOT provide an explicit error message!
If you are using RDP you may get "cannot connect to server" errors. In ICA you may get 'Protocol driver error' or any othergeneral error message.

The place to look for TSCAL errors is on the server's event viewer.

Resolution:
If such an event appears, reset the device to its factory defaults.
Our experience in this mattershows that:

  1. When you reset a device to factory defaults - the TSCAL license is deleted fromthe Xtreme PCdevice.
  2. If after a reset to factory defaults you still cannot connect - IT IS A SERVER SIDE PROBLEM!
