This document teaches how to use Xcalibur Global to schedule recurring client reboots.
The reboot will be scheduled to repeat on an hourly basis but only during particular hours and days of the week.
The method taught is based on the following steps:
Select the OU containing the target device.
Create an Xcalibur Policy that is linked to the selected OU.
Configure the Xcalibur Policy to schedule recurring client reboots.

Procedure
Select the OU Containing the Target Device
The OU in our example is Thin Clients Demo
The Domain in our example is net2.qa2
Launch the Xcalibur Global Management Console: From the Task Bar select: Start \ Programs \ Xcalibur Global 1.1 \ Management Console.
Locate the OU Thin Clients Demo: Expand the path: Xcalibur Directory Manager \ net2.qa2
Select the OU Thin Clients Demo.
Create an Xcalibur Policy that is linked to the selected OU
Right-click on the OU (Thin Clients Demo) to display the following drop-down menu:
Select Properties from the drop-down menu to display the <OU> properties window.
Select the Xcalibur Policy tab.
Click the New button and select TC Policy from the drop-down menu to create a New Xcalibur Policy Object that will appear in the Xcalibur Policy Object Links column.
Enter a new name for the policy. In this example, we will be using the name Device – Schedule client reboot hourly. Press Enter.
Configure the Xcalibur Policy to schedule recurring client reboots
Select the Xcalibur Policy tab.
Select the new policy.
Click Edit to open the Policy Editor.
Expand the followingpolicy branch: <policy name> \ Device Configuration \ 2007 Resource Kit v.1 \ Control Panel
Select the Device Renewal Options.
In the right pane, double-click on the Renewal Method to open the following window.
Select the Enabled option.
Choose between UTC Time and Local Time, this will determine the reference time used by the scheduler.
In the field titled Specify how to renew the device: select Reboot hourly from the drop-down combo box.
From the Renewal Method window, click on the Schedule button.
The following Working Hours window will appear.
For each day of the week, mark in blue (Permit working) the hours during which the client reboot will be active. During its active periods, the client will reboot every hour, on the hour.
Click OK to save your settings and exit the Working Hours window.
Click OK to exit the Renewal Method window and return to the Policy Editor window.
Click to close the Policy Editor window and return to the Xcalibur Policy tab window.
Click OK to return to the Xcalibur Global Management Console window.
Conclusion
Xcalibur Global now has a policy that will schedule recurring client reboots.
The policy is linked to the OU that was selected.
The policy will affect all devices within the OU and any child OUs (as long a there are no restrictions on policy inheritance).
