How to Create an ICA Connection to a Published Application from the Client Device

Objectives

This document teaches how to create an ICA connection to a published application from the client device.

The ICA plug-in enables the client device to establish a connection with a server using the ICA protocol.

Applicable Product Version

Chip PC thin client device with firmware version 6.5.3.

Citrix ICA Client version 9.0402


Procedure

  1. From the Desktop double-click on the My Connections icon to open the My Connections Manager screen.


  2. Select File \ New… to open the New Connection screen.


  3. Select the Citrix ICA Client connection type and click OK. The Select Server or Published Application screen opens after a few seconds.
  4. Select the Published Application option.

  5. Click Server Location to open the Server Location screen.


  6. Click Add to open the Add Server Address screen.


  7. Enter the address of the Citrix server and click OK to return to the Server Location screen.
  8. Click OK to return to the Select Server or Published Application screen.
  9. Click Refresh to retrieve an updated list of published applications.
  10. Select the desired published application (in this case Word).


  11. Click Next> to open the Select a Title for the ICA Connection screen.


  12. Change the title (if required) and click Next> to open the Specify Logon Information screen.


  13. Click Next> to open the Select Window Options screen.


  14. Select the desired number of Window Colors and click Next> to open the Options screen.


  15. Click Next> to open the Firewall Settings screen.


  16. Click Done to return to the My Connections Manager screen.


  17. The new connection now appears in the My Connections screen list.
    Right-click on the desired connection (in this case Word) and select Change Icon… from the drop-down list to open the Change Icon screen.


  18. Select an appropriate icon (in this case the Microsoft® Word icon) and click OK to return to the My Connections Manager screen.
  19. Close the My Connections Manager screen to return to the Desktop screen.

Conclusion

  • The client device now has an ICA connection to a published application.
