Objectives

 

This document explains how to access the Remote Connection plug-in in image 6.5.x.

This Plug-in offers connectivity via an internal\external modem\broadband, Including dial-up & VPN connections.

Procedures

Please note: Prior knowledge in networking is required to use this feature.

Before you begin:

Download the proper plug-in version for you device from Chip PC's web site.

The plug-in is located under the Security section.

Once you've obtained the plug-in install it on your device.

To create a new Remote Connection:

  • Open the Network Connections dialog.
    Use the desktop icon, if present, or Start -> Networking -> Network Manager.
  • Click on File -> New on the menu, select "Remote Connection", and click OK.
  • The Remote Connection Wizard will open.
  • Follow the on screen instructions and enter the relevant information according to your needs. Contact your system administrator for networking assistance.

What can be done with this feature?

In General, this plug-in combines 3 different clients: Analog, PPTP and PPPoE.

  • Create dial up connections – using internal or external serial modem.
  • Create VPN connections (PPTP)
  • Create PPP over Ethernet (PPPoE) connections.
