Troubleshoot: Citrix Web Interface and image 6.5.x

Last modified: Thursday, Apr 12, 2007 Article ID: 722
Related products: Firmware v6.5.x (CE 4.2)

Objectives

This document explains how to resolve Citrix Web Interface problems when working with image 6.5.x while using the local Internet Explorer browser.

Troubleshoot

Possible problem:

In some events when a user logon to the Citrix Web Interface, a list of available applications will appear however the user will not be able to open them.  When attempting to open an application the following message will be displayed (this message will flash on and disappear) and nothing else happens.

This message indicates that an attempt is made to download a file (to understand what the file is read how the Citrix Web Interface works).

The attempt fails since the local browser is set by default to block incoming files for security reasons.

To fix this problem:

  1. In image 6.5.x - go to: Start -> Settings -> Device -> Plugins tab
  2. Select the Internet Explorer Connection plug-in from the Available Plug-ins list
  3. Click the configure button
  4. Under the Internet Explorer Connection Plug-in dialog select the Advanced tab
  5. On the Advanced tab :

    • Mark the “Support environment variables in URL address” checkbox.
    • In the “Download Options” area:
      • In the “Select Cookies options” dropdown menu choose Maximum
      • In the “Select Download options” dropdown menu select “Allow All”.
  6. Confirm all open dialogs and restart the device when asked

Secure environment (SSL) problems:

Some users encounter problems when trying to use Citrix Web Interface in a secure environment (SSL).

When working in a secure environment (SSL) two basic conditions must be met:

  1. The client MUST have a valid Root Certificate (Issued by the same CA server that issued the Citrix server's Root Certificate)
  2. The client and server date and time MUST be synchronized

These are basic SSL prerequisites. Please contact your system administrator for more information.
