Through DHCP, Xtreme PC devices can obtain the following information:
- FTP SERVER LOCATION: This DHCP option automatically provides the Xtreme PC device the IP address of the organization's FTP server. To this server's IP the Xtreme PC device will connect in order to download Firmware upgrade / XPI / License files.
** (Code# 161; Data Type=IP Address). - FTP SERVER DIRECTORY: This DHCP option automatically provides the Xtreme PC device the name of the FTP directory under which Firmware / XPI / License files were placed by the Chip PC Installer utility (for more information refer to article No. 9).
** (Code# 162; Data Type=String). - XCALIBUR SERVER LOCATION: This DHCP option automatically provides the Xtreme PC device the IP address of the server on which the Xcalibur Management Software is installed. To this server's IP the Xtreme PC device will send related management information. From this server's IP the Xtreme PC device will receive management commands (via SNMP).
** (Code# 163; Data Type=IP Address). - SNMP COMMUNITY NAME: This DHCP option automatically provides the Xtreme PC device the SNMP community name used for communication with the Xcalibur Management Software via SNMP. By default the community name used is Xtreme.
** (Code# 164; Data Type=String). - VPN SERVER LOCATION: This DHCP option automatically provides the Xtreme PC device the IP address of the VPN server in-front which you wish the Xtreme PC device to establish a PPTP VPN connection.
** (Code# 165; Data Type=IP Address).
Adding these options to the DHCP Server will simplify the deployment process of Firmware / XPI / License files to your Xtreme PC device(s).
